Camp Programs
Camp Soaring Eagle provides year round, medically supervised, camping programs to children and family members from across Arizona with chronic and life threatening illnesses. We conduct six different types of camping programs: Illness Specific Camping Weekends, Illness Specific Family Retreats, Sibling Camper Weekends, Summer Camp Program, Camp Outreach and Veterans’ Children Weekends.
Illness Specific Camper Weekends
Throughout the year we host illness-specific camper weekends where children with similar conditions are brought together for a weekend that builds their courage, instills hope and promotes joy. Campers are able to experience the magic that is camp while remaining under the watchful eye of our 24 hour medical team. Campers travel by motor coach to Camp Soaring Eagle, located on 26 acres just outside of Sedona. While at camp, the children enjoy horseback riding, fishing, crafts, music, archery, and most importantly discovering in the process that they can do more than they ever thought possible.
Illness Specific Family Retreats
When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, it directly affects the entire family. At Family Retreat Weekends, siblings and parents can share their feelings openly and honestly with other families going through the same kind of medical crisis while coming together to enjoy a much needed break.
Sibling Camper Weekends
The Sibling Camper Weekend lets well children within the family get away from their chaotic surroundings, make friends and hang out with other kids who are also trying to cope with a sick sibling. They feel special for the weekend having the chance to simply laugh and play.
Summer Camp Program
The Summer Camp program is a transformational week where children ages 6-15 come together to create life-long bonds with children like themselves with similar medical conditions. This week long camp adventure is a unique opportunity for our campers to truly spread their wings as they foster a sense of pride and accomplishment and gain freedom from their illness.
Camp Outreach
In partnership with Cardon Children’s Medical Center, Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, Phoenix Children’s Hospital and other medical facilities, Camp Outreach brings the playful spirit of camp to children experiencing long-term hospital stays for treatment or therapy. Throughout the year campers and families join us for sporting events, theatrical entertainment, and other fun group activities to maintain the friendships started at camp.
Veterans’ Children Weekend
The Veterans’ Kids Camper Weekend gives kids on the home front a few days to relax, get things off their chest, and blow off some steam. We honor our Arizona soldiers who are sacrificing for their country by serving the children they leave behind.
